The Active Pot

The Active Pot concept stems from a few simple principles of gaming fairness :

• The winner cannot take from each loser more than he has bet.
• The loser cannot lose more than the winner has bet.
• The loser cannot lose more than he has bet in the first place.
• Anyone can bet any amount, there are no limits.
• There is no obligation to match previous bets to play, side-pots are created instead.

Active Pot formula:

AP = W + min(W, L₁) + min(W, L₂) + min(W, L₃) + min(W, L₄)

Example:

Let’s take 5 betting pools (P_S1, P_S2, P_S3, P_S4, P_S5) for the 5 participating smols, S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5:

P_S1=12.24ETH     P_S2= 7.74ETH     P_S3= 24.40ETH     P_S4= 4.50ETH     P_S5= 9.00ETH

Now, let’s assume S1 won, which corresponds to the P_S1 betting pool. The Active Pot (AP) would be:

AP = P_S1 + P_S2 + P_S1 + P_S4 + P_S5

AP = 45.72ETH

The Active Pot is 45.72 ETH, while the Total Bet Amount is 57.88ETH.

The House takes 20%, we subtract the P_S1 that was bet and the winners are left with 24.33ETH pure profit. Everyone in the winning pool has just won 2:1 on their initial bet.

The losers are left with the following in-game balances (B):
